Penn State Announces that Videon’s Todd Erdley Will Deliver College of Engineering Commencement Address

State College, PA -- Todd Erdley, President and CEO of Videon Central, Inc., will deliver a commencement address to Penn State’s College of Engineering this May. “I am deeply honored to have time to speak to these students on such an important day,” Erdley said.

Erdley is a lifelong State College resident and ardent Penn State supporter, earning an Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s degree in 1986 and a Master’s in 1992. He was asked to speak because his story will so strongly resonate with students and parents alike. As an engineer, entrepreneur and community advocate, his career demonstrates how a degree in Engineering can empower students to make meaningful change in their communities.

As founder of Videon, Erdley showed how an Engineering grad can start a high tech company and do business with the biggest names in consumer electronics, all the while creating local jobs and supporting our community. Moreover, his experience shows that a CEO can establish a company culture that supports and values employees and their aspirations. Videon is deeply involved in local charities, and Erdley actively works with community groups to drive entrepreneurship and economic development.

For Erdley, the chance to address a graduating class at Penn State is a privilege. “Penn State has always been a part of my life,” said Erdley. “When I was in third grade, I told those around in me in Beaver Stadium that one day you would see me on that field. At 5’7” I wasn’t cut out for football, but I did end up on the Beaver Stadium field, as a member of the Blue Band. In junior high I knew that someday I would start a business, which I did after four restless years working for others. And by high school I dreamed of someday being invited to speak at a commencement ceremony. It is an unfathomable honor to realize that vision at a university that has always been and will always be a defining part of me and my success.”

Erdley will deliver his address, titled “The Problems You’ll Solve” at 8 PM on Friday, May 8 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
